‘Binding legal opinion’ by city attorney on Sheriff Williams

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Metropolis attorney Jason Teal unveiled a statement on Sunday afternoon in reaction to Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams and his residency controversy.

“I am not answering any inquiries at this time, but I did want you to know that the Town Council president has requested a binding lawful belief from me on this topic. I be expecting to difficulty the belief on or before June 1st.“

Jacksonville City Council president Sam Newby responded to the scenario as well:

“I had no notion. I was truly stunned. I personally assume that he need to live in Jacksonville.” 

Newby said he spoke with the Sheriff who believes he is shielded by the legislation modifying. Newby is not guaranteed what the future actions are but programs to discuss with the town attorney, he explained.
