DownUnder Legal Disrupter Expands In UK

Australian-based legal disrupter LegalVision, a business set up to provide fixed price membership for legal clients, has opened its business in the UK.
LegalVision started life as a business resource for business owners rather than as a law firm, has now grown to a point where it has over 350,000 monthly visitors and it claims to have assisted over 150,000 Australian businesses via its ‘digital first’ approach to delivering legal services.
In 2021 it expanded to New Zealand with its subscription model
The firm has now begun trading from Manchester, with around 20 starting but with plans to qudruple the number in the first year.
Sydney-based co-founder Lachlan McKnight (left) a former corporates lawyer with Norton Rose and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and an investment banker at Barclays Capital, co-founded LegalVision in 2012, offering its fixed cost and subscription model to businesses.
He said the business has grown 40 per cent year-on-year and was ripe for exporting to this country.
‘The British market is three times larger than Australia and there are very few tech-driven, client-centric legal service providers,’ he said. ‘Being the only firm operating on a membership model, we can provide an exclusive and valuable service to companies.”
As LawFuel reported earlier, LegalVision is facing what he sees as a disrupted market with the traditional law firms doing nothing to counter their growth as they have continued to do well and there is little incentive to change a model that is paying their owners so well.
But change is coming, he says. And LegalVision intend being part of it.
